Brown Brothers is a sought after Wedding Location for a lot of our couples, located in Milawa in the heart of Australia’s Wine and High Country. We were thrilled to capture Courtney and Bretts Wedding at this stunning venue. It was an extra privilege to be a part of Courtney’s’ day as we have had the pleasure of knowing her and her family for many years.
Courtney and Brett’s Ceremony took place in the tree lined grounds at Brown Brothers with a vineyard backdrop. Joined by their closest family and friends, the Reception celebrations followed in the manicured Brown Brothers grounds with a sit down dinner in the Barn.
Thank you to Courtney and Brett for sharing the story of their day:
We had been dating for 4 years when we got engaged on 12 th of April 2017, whilst we were holidaying on the Gold Coast. We both decided that we wanted two things: a wedding with minimal stress and to go through the whole experience of planning the day together. After a week of engaged life on the Gold Coast, we got home and sat down to decide on the wedding date. We both thought November is a beautiful time of year to get married, so we locked in 10th November 2018. That gave us 18 months to pull it all together. Once we had the date, we were on the phone to Jason to book him in ASAP. Jason has been a close friend on the McLees family for many years. He is also an incredibly talented photographer, so it was important for us to have him there on the day. Jason is so much more than a photographer, he helped with the whole timeline of the day, explained the process for the ceremony and reception and helped put our mind at ease. We then wanted to find the perfect venue that suited us. After looking at a number of different venues, we fell in love with Brown Brothers. We were instantly blown away by the beauty of the ceremony location in front of the vineyard, as well as the stunning reception in the Old Barn, it was such an easy decision. We contacted Brown Brothers and got to meet Monique, the Event Coordinator, who was the most wonderful, supportive person throughout the whole experience. She was always seeking to help us make sure the day was exactly what we wanted and checked in with all of our vendors to ensure the day would run perfectly for us. The next 18 months flew by so quickly, and before we knew it, it was our wedding Day! The Bridal party spent the morning getting ready at Brown Brothers ‘Bridal Cottage’. It was such a gorgeous place to relax and prepare for the day and we even had chilled wine ready to go to help calm the nerves.
The Groom and Groomsmen got ready for the day over at Lindenwarrah (across the road from Brown Brothers), which is also beautiful. Being so close to location made the day a lot less stressful and meant it was only a quick walk or car ride over to the Ceremony.
The nerves didn’t really kick in for both of us until around 3 o’clock. By the time 3.30 p.m. came around we were both beside ourselves with so many emotions. This was what we had been waiting for these last 18 months and it was finally time to say our vows. We both agree that seeing each other for the first time was simply a moment that will remain close with us for the rest of our lives. It was such a special moment filled with so much emotion and love and Jason really captured that moment for us so beautifully.
We were so lucky to have perfect weather on the day, and Jason took full advantage, choosing so many different locations around Brown Brothers and surrounds to take photos. This included the old wine cellar, the beautiful vineyard, the old mill and we were fortunate enough to capture some amazing sunset photos. When it was time to walk into the reception, not only was it amazing to see all of our family and friends cheering us on, we were also stunned away by the beauty of the old barn. Brown Brothers did most of the setup, even providing the place cards, menus, seating chart, candles, fairy lights and so much more. The floral arrangements for the tables, which were provided by Poppy Emporium, were exactly what we had hoped for and it came together so elegantly but had that element of simplicity which is what we wanted.
You are always told that the day is such a blur and goes so quickly, which we now understand to be incredibly accurate. Before we knew it we were standing up to have our first dance as Husband and Wife. Our chosen song (Time After Time) was played by The Quinn Brothers, who did such a wonderful job entertaining our guests throughout the night. The rest of our night was spent dancing, catching up with family and friends and eating way to many donuts (yes, we had a donut cake and would like to thank Victoria from Oh Crumbs, they were definitely a massive success).
So many people helped us make the day so special and full of wonderful memories. we are both so incredibly grateful, especially to Brown Brothers, Monique and their staff. Your level of professionalism, assistance and guidance not only throughout the day, but during the weeks and months leading up to it, was outstanding and made our day exactly what we wanted, as stress free as possible.
And one final huge thank you to Jason. You managed to capture some of our most special moments in such a beautiful way, and we are so grateful for all your help and support throughout this entire experience. From Mr & Mrs Ley.
